hi all i have a 99 disco 2 whilst out yesterday the bags went completly down while driving along once id turned the engine of and restarted everything was normal so im thinking is renewing the airbags so first does anybody in the know think this is the right thing to do and exactly how hard is it to do as im no mechanic thanks for any help

I've got an 02, bags went last year. They're dead easy. Got mine from Paddock, I think, They're the "new" type that are a push-fit.
Jack the car up from the tow-bar, so the axle is @ full extension, you don't even have to take the wheels off (might be easier if you do).
Remove the 2 clips on top of the old airbag, & cut the airpipe,as close to the airbag union as possible, rotate thru 90 degrees & it's off.
Fit new airbag using the reverse of the above procedure.
Took me 20 mins & I removed the wheels!
Don't forget to push the pipes really hard to the new airbags.

Yep will be the bags they perish under the bit that folds over its self, yu have to do the pair to be on the safe side about 20 minutes a side really easy job. Paddocks is the cheapest place.

I dont recommend u to cut the pipes they have a kind of tumescence close to the fitting then u might not be able to push them enough into the new ones......
My advice is to stab the old bags first then pull the clips and push the bag down untill u have enough space to undo the pipe's fitting....if it's the old type then use a spanner and after that loosen the ring from the end of pipe with a small screwdriver(it is not fully circular it has a gap).....if its the push in type u just have to push the small ring and pull the pipe out.....u will save the entire pipes this way.
And it's recommended to disconect battery neg. before u do anything.

My recommendations are just saving u from the work on the compressor assy to depress the bags and from cutting the pipes.......the rest u better follow as shown.

Everything worked great except I needed to play with the height of the axle using jacks so that the compressor would come on to do the initial fill.
My symptoms were the occasional complete deflation of the drivers side air bag when I took something out of the boot.
