wont start

drove it yesterday totaly fine, today wouldnt start then when it did it only ran on maybe 3 so turned it off when to start it again and nothing and i mean nothing at all, all dash lights on but nothing at turn of key. walked away for 15 mins came back and it started and ran fine so went out and what do u know parked up and went shoppping came back and totaly dead. when i say dead i mean it dont turn over, or crank it does nothing at all not even a click nothing.....rac man checked everything battery fine all fusses fine all solinoids fine. dash lights on u can hear the solinoids and things doing there normal thing before u start it but u turn key and there is nothing dito. He says it must b imobiliser....it is key entry only i have no fob, and was wondering if it could be imobiliser playing up. has anyone else had this problem any advise greatly recived really need me car its only one i have and cant work without it. its M reg 3.9 V8 LPG converted. was told to take battery leads off to reset everything but as its lpg will it upset the set up.please help

if its petrol its tryna start on could be fuel pump or amp on dizzy as a starting point but the lpg makes it more complicated

yes it always starts on petrol till warm then switchies to gas, but always on inital start its petrol.

Remove starter motor and check it. Also check there is power from starter relay to starter solenoid when key is turned. Could be the starter motor is dead or the starter solenoid has died. Has a spider bypass been fitted? If not try fitting one.

thanks Classic Kev...... but what is a spider bypass. will b passing all usefull info to my machanic wed as will hopefully b helpfull in finding the problem.

thing is though it ran on the 3 cyliders before dying? otherwise I would agree on starter or inhibit switch if its auto.

could be the spider, I never had one and I cound my self lucky

well my friend had a fidle with it today and it was wires on starter, he said to take them off and give them a good clean, and if still plays up will b the starter, but back on road for now. knew it had to b something silly to just suddenly do that. but not getting to excited till i get all conections clean and c if that solves problem.as who knows in few days could play up again lol, after all it is a landrover lol

true, I wonder why it was only runny on three cylinders?

Don't worry about a spider (passive immobiliser) if you can start you disco without a fob you don't have one and only introduced on the 1996MY disco.
