Hi all,

First time poster here. I’ve bought a second hand 2014 Freelander 2 today at auction.

I’ve picked it up, mechanically seems ok, no knocking etc however the headlamps do not work. The DRL’s are working however no side lights, headlamps or main beam.

I have tried both manual and auto settings, the lights come on the dash to indicate the lights are on but nothing on the front of the car.

All other lights work fine. If it helps, when I select main beam there is a knocking noise from under the bonnet. Bulbs have been checked and look fine.

Any ideas from you wonderful people!

Change the bulbs. It's not uncommon for them to fail in pairs, and not look failed. Unfortunately these headlamps burn out bulbs very quickly, often in a couple of hundred hours, assuming it's normal bulbs and not HID bulbs.

There's no fuses in the system, as the lights are driven by FETs. Sometimes a failed bulb can cause a FET to shut down, but cycling the ignition should reset it.
