well fellas, i have managed to get the damn thing up and running, i changed the burner insert including glow pin/plug and its sorted it out, what a joy to behold!!! finally toasty warm car in cold mornings for me!!!

also i changed it all in situ, someone said that couldnt be done either, feckin pussy.

i did cut the bejesus outa my fingers doing it tho!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

you can get em relatively cheap.

new you would pay 1200 fitted, not worth the hassle.

you can get one out of a rover 75 at breakers for circa 60 quid!!!

you do need timer, and wiring but i have all the diagrams and you can make your own wiring!!!

a few piccys from todays little escapades!!!

Where's the pictures of the sliced up fingers? That's what we all want to see really, isn't it?

mostly on my other hand as i'm right handed it gets most of the cuts!!! in pic 6 tho you can see one of the cuts in the centre of my palm!!!

didn't bleed but it was ace when i got doozel and carb cleaner in the wound!!!

well done gav love the nice shinny pipe. did you fix your high vis light

recognise the pipes??

not done light yet, not had time!:D:D:D:D

Yeah do they all have one??

just the dozel ones, the cdt's. and not every one, it takes a bit of finding one and as in my case they arent guaranteed to work but i got a petrol one off ebay for 20 quid with a relatively new burner insert (pic 7&8 notice the state of the one with burnt wires) but dead (i might have killed it) pcb.

as far as i can tell the only difference between petrol and diesel is the pcb programming. so if you aquired a couple you most likely would be able to exchange pcb's

now the main problem, apart from the pcb, seems to be the glow pin and gause pic 6 (the pin is the rectangular black bit, the gause is the gold coloured bit) but again these can be easily test and the chances of getting two with the same problem are gonna be small. in anycase the burner unit is quite cheap on german ebay.

the easiest method to get one running is a simple switch. all you need is +ve -ve and another wire for the switch. a cheapo remote control thats commonly used for electric gates is available on fleebay for around 2.99 + post.

you do need the fuel pump, located near the back wheel on the 75, the water pump should be attached to the unit (i detached mine for easier plumbing) and a fuel tank (this can be the water exp. tank from a nissan micra, the bubble one or a tank from a strimmer or plumbed into the doozel supply/return)

i have the software and cable, but any simple k-line/ibus interface can be used. a vag-com 3 off fleebay with wires to pins 16 = +ve, 5= -ve and pin 7 to pin 2 on the heater. software i have or can be gotten free.

the good bit is that all the basic stuff could set you back around 80 quid!!!

the bad bit is the ferking about finding em and uncertainty as i have never seen or used one, let alone fitted one, before i had the crazy idea to put one on mine!!!

there are lots of cars that have the webasto, audi, bmw, vw, rover, seat, ford galaxy, merc and some landrover models.

vauxhall have the eberspacher located behind the front drivers side bumper, same principal different device.

heres one off a gaylander:

its b'cos the enjin runs too cold, so it needs a boost now and then, it also runs if temp goes below 5 degrees but cuts out if battery is at 9.7 volts

04's and 05's are the latest i have seen em on, dunno how that ties in with the end of rover????

probably the last few or someone found a spare box of em and decided to lob em on!!!

I thought it woz us Southern Softies that felt the cold!!

I woz led to believe you Northern Folk eat Castrol GTX sandwiches for your T, give the wife a right good kicking on a weekly basis and venture outside in nothing more than shorts and a T-shirt unless the temperature drops below -10c, when you might add a flat cap to your attire :)

Someones been tellin me porkies all these years!!

Well that I'll teach me for not reading these things thru properly in the first place. I thought it was one those cabin pre heaters you get on posh cars.

Trouble is I'm just used to cookin me grub on gas not running me car.

You're also puttin me off this LPG stuff even more if I need another bit of kit to make it work properly.

I stand corrected
