I'm so glad to be taking delivery of a Freelander TD4 tomorrow, but the garage I'm getting it from seems to be messing me about alot.
Usual faults were found, rear windows not opening e.t.c.
My main concern though is that the steering felt VERY heavy, so bad I couldn't even turn the wheel when the engine was running but stationary.
When they come to deliver it, how can I test the PAS is working correctlt before I spend my very hard earned cash.
(p.s It's a 51 reg)

Thank you all!
p.s Glad to meet you all. Can't wait to be a landy owner again.:)

Hi and :welcome2:

I dont think I would be taking delivery or handing over any cash until I was 100% certain that the car had no faults.

Time and time again people ask how to get their money back after accepting a broken motor and then spend the next few months fighting.

Be very wary, what about an inspection by a motor engineer?

I'm surprised garages still sell these considering there will usually be loads of niggles which they will ultimately end up having to repair.

For the amount it would cost to have fixed all the niggles on my old TD4, I could have bought a new car!

If your a member of a motoring organisaion, such as AA or RAC, you may get a discount on a vehicle inspection.

They will do such an inspection even if you are not a member, you just pay more...:D

Just read the first post again and note you say usual faults found - I take it the garage are fixing all the faults to your satisfaction BEFORE you accept the vehicle.
If you are not happy about the steering, walk away the power steering should allow the wheels to turn freely.

Sounds like a duck egg, there will be other better motors out there.

Well I'm sorry to say I'm no longer getting delivery of a TD4 tomorrow.
The Garage delivery driver has called in sick for tomorrow and so won't be bringing it??? Had a long chat with one of the owners of the garage and they are even giving me my deposit back, (Said with my attitude, they wouldn't want to sell a car to me anyway???) so they'll just have to find some gullible mug who is willing to pay for it.

So what would you suggest I buy, almighty Hetro???

anything else......
you'll come back here again for one when you finally get one and you start having all the problems

if you want to know the problems, use the search function at the top :)

good luck

get a p38 rangie

despite their rep, if you get a good one they are brill (i've got a good one by the way)

:hysterically_laughi :hysterically_laughi :hysterically_laughi

ive got some hens teeth and rocking horse poo if your interested.

seriously though p38s are good when they work but they can (and very usually do) empty your pockets and bank balance very quickly when something goes wrong.
