Having a drama with the track rod ends I know they have different threads L& R I suspect it might just be a case of running a re-threader down it but I haven't one that size as anyone had this problem
I know that a replacement is cheap but just wondered if there was a quick fix?
Cheers bemmy

I good wire brush should do the trick, as good luck finding the correct die to run down it plus you'll need a thread gauge to work the thread out

Discocool,
When I removed the LH old ball joint and tried to replace the new LH ball joint it wouldn't screw in either way but the RH ball joint fits a treat, worryingly
Cheers bemmy

Just a quick update I've checked the ball joints I got for my disco they are as follows
STRRTC5869 RH THREAD
STRRTC5870 LH THREAD
Discocool,
As stated earlier

I got these from paddock, they are Delphi not britpart

Any ideas

Some muppet has changed the ends so they're both RH threaded..,.

Shirley that means you can't adjust without popping a joint? Bit silly int it?
No

discos have a bracket for the steering damper so that end stays put. the other end has a 6 inch long bit with LH threads. the tracking is set using this small bit not the whole track rod. Thats why both ends are RH....the LH adjuster is 2 inches from the end.

That makes sense. It's been a few years since I had me first disco. but was sure they were both RH.

So when I bought them should I have got x2 RH thread ball joints?
The diagrams show two different part No's for LH & RH
THANKS Bemmy
