Being of small brain long tubes bother me.
the track rod we took off a 2a is 1096 long, but a spare is 1173 approx- why? i only have S3 and S2a and S1 where can i find data? the factory manual (white Book) doesn't have info.
I ordered a replacement from paddock but says only use S3 TR Ends.......

On the upside, you got an extra 7mm of tube for your money! :)

I think you just have to screw the track rod ends in a bit further to make the overall length the same as the old one.

I think longer is early type ball joints.
To check look in the end of the track rod/drag link, if the thread starts straight away it is later type, if there is approx one inch of smooth bore before thread starts, then it is early type ball joints.

I just started to assemble my rods last night to fit to the chassis and found that I had the wrong ones :(
It seems pre 74 track rods have a non threaded portion and post 74 ones are fully threaded and are not interchangeable.
I bought them a long time ago and now have 4 boxed sealed ones and two unboxed new ones, free to a good home if someone is willing to collect them from Inverness.
I also have two genuine Dunlop 109 Axle straps that I found were too short for my parabolics and are also free if collected.

Mix them up at your peril.
