Hi guys. I have a bit of a problem. When im offroad in low box, in a low gear such as gear 2, when i hit an incline it will cut out as if it doesnt have the guts, i have been with other 200tdis that will tick over these obstacles with no revs, if i dont apply revs i will cut out. Its the same if i set off on an incline using only the clutch. I thought the td5 had antistall. Any ideas lads?

Hi, could be that the hi-low switch is making tricks(they are poor design) and it jumps out from low(closed position) then the engine management returns to the hi range fuel map which can't bear the additional torque request as the transfer box is still in low but the management doesnt get the input

it's a shame that they didnt fit a low range warning too on the dash to monitor that switch ... to rule this out you should improvise a warning with a led to see if the hi-low switch stays closed all the time in low or it jumps out

let me know if you want that and i'll tell you how cos it's dead easy(you need RAVE for connector views)...i've been thinking to do that mod myself but i'm too lazy for that, a led in that sticker with hi-low selection on the console in front of the lever would be nice.

Could you give us some pointers on how its done. Im not too sure on the location of the switch. Also my hdc worked fine, so surely it is in low as it will only work in low, unless hdc doesnt work with that switch?

you said when you hit an incline so i presumed it's uphill and also i presume that HDC works downhill

if there's some play within the transfer box is possible that the hi'low switch to make tricks only uphill so it's something to be ruled out according to the symptom especially that it seems it's intermittent... the switch is pointed in the attachment

Hill descent will activate only in Low box, therefore if the high low switch must be working correctly? Providing the control is working when going down an hill. I think you need to have a bit more of a read up bud.

Also you clearly don't understand the response user "td5284" has said.
