Bit of advice please, power steering getting stiff and lumpy at low revs ie tick over but ok above 1000 rpm, no loss of fluid.
I replaced steering rack, pump, reservoir and both pressure pipes last September because I’d lost a lot of fluid from reservoir and there was a load of glitter in reservoir, I’m hoping it’s just the pump and reservoir and fluid needs changing and not the rack, if it is the rack I’ll have to take it to Freelander specialist In Methwold as I don’t think I can do that again later time it messed me up big time as I’m an old man

Bit of an update here to this fault, when engine has cooled down and fluid is cooler there’s no problem, it was a hot day here today 25c does anyone think that would be an issue, very confusing, thanks

Most likely the seals in the steering rack. 2006/8 had a manufacturing fault where they didn’t clean out the swarf properly during manufacture I have been told. Reconditioned racks are relatively cheap but fitting them is a bit of a chore.
