I hope this is use to someone. Not too difficult, just a bit fiddly, and a picture can always help....

This is the location of the pump and filter if you have the same model as mine. On the right, and back of the engine bay as you stand in front of the car.

Remove all pipes and electrical connectors carefully, the 'easy-connect' just need pinching either side and a gentle pull of the pipe.....remembering where they all go when it come to refitting :) A little bit of diesel spill but nothing to worry about.

This is a view from the top showing where the small screw that retains the plastic holder is(in between the pump and filter). Undo this screw to be able to pull out the holder and pump/filter in one go. The back and bottom of the holder has a slide in/down fixing, so when all the pipes/connections are free pull up and out to retreive.

'M' is the multi-point fuel connection which has been mentioned- accessible also from the wing open panel Mine was an "easy-connect" fitment here, but some are metal clips - be careful.

This is a pic with the whole lot removed. I've marked a circle 'A' where the hole for the plastic holder retaining screw would go, 'B' is where the bottom of the plastic holder slides in. I've taped/sealed any open joints ready for reinstallation.

All the bits out:
'A' is the fuel pump with a pre-bent pipe and 'easy-connect' attachment which connects at the multi-connect point.
'B' is the fuel pump plastic housing. Slides in herewith bent pipe in first.
'C' is the fuel filter plastic housing. Very tight to remove, so grease up when you fit a new one.
'D' is the fuel filter. When the new filter is connected make sure you slide it in the holder with the arrow pointing to the front of the car and ensure all the relative pipes/electrics will reach before you tighten up
'E' is an earth connection wedged between the fuel filter housing and fuel filter. Don't know if it needs it but I'm putting it back as I found it.
'F' is an alternative connection I had on mine, not an 'easy-connect' but a "spring-like" jubilee clip? I gues you could use jubilee clips if you had to.

Hope this anal account is of use..... ;)

that all fine until you get one like mine the fuel filter would not come out of the holder I had to buy a new one and binned the old it just would not shift

Thank you for the great write up! I would like to add that on mine there was a metal clip that was slid down the side on the filter to hold it in even tighter, I don't believe mine was ever changed. When it eventually came out I binned the clip and used a dremel to go round the inside of the housing, now the filter fits snug. Not too loose, not too tight, just right ;)

any idea of the part number for the pump on this?

Hi Simohall

Sorry to jump in on this but did you ever suss out the part number?

I have a W reg TD4 and need to replace the low pressure pump but there are loads out there and need to get the right one.

Thanks,

Tom.

Hi all,

Just as an update, the part number for the under bonnet low pressure pump on my W reg TD4 was - LR020625.

£354 from dealer or £150 from local specialist.

However, I continued to run it for a few days with some fuel system cleaner in there and it has now been running a week without missing a beat so I've opted to return the part for now and will see how it goes.

Thanks for your help!
