It seems my window mechanism has given up the ghost. At first I though it just needed calibration as a new starter motor has been fitted so the battery has obviously been disconnected. This work was carried out by mechanics at my wife's work, a transport company. So I went through the motions, which I found researching pages on this forum, disconnected the battery, waited around 2 minutes, reconnected the battery, operated the dash switch, 4 beeps while trying to drop the window and no movement. Obviously a problem. I can open and close the door, but I have to force the window in underneath the top seal of the hardtop. I removed the door card and found the outer sheath of cable 8 on the attached pdf lying in the well of the door and the inner cable cut and frayed at the bottom pulley idler on the lock side of the door. Seems age (51 plate) may have helped, Wondering if it would be cheaper to get a replacement tailgate door from a scrapyard rather than try and replace the mechanism which seems like a really tricky job.

I also replaced the whole mechanism, and as lyndbo said it's not that bad a job to do. If you do a search there's a guide with pictures on here. Good luck.
