Disco 1 Syncing a key fob

Hello,

I have 2 key fobs one worked the other didn't. I sent the broken one off to a firm on eBay and they were supposed to repair/replace the fob and get it synced to my disco, it came back and didn't work and they asked me to remove my ecu and send it to them with the key and they would sort it.

Well life got in the way and now its 6 months down the line and I suddenly remembered fob still doesn't work.

Does anyone know of a way to sync my fob to my disco please?

Yeah right!

Sync or program? Synchronised is by pressing the lock button four times..

To programm, send both items, fob plus ECU to the well known company Remote Key with a 24 hour turn around I believe, but if you purchase a new fob from then and then they will loan you a programmer. Have a word with Remote Key they may even be able to copy your existing working fob.

I've also used Remote Key Ltd. (via ebay) for a brand new fob with key blade built in (not that I can find any bugger who will cut it for me ) and they were great - very quick and did a cheap deal to refurb my old fob which has now got a fair bit more range than previously.

Cheers everyone, I'm not too sure what to do atm as I use it a lot and could do with it not being off the road at all. (even though its my off roader but you know what I mean )

Do you think I could take it to my local Rover dealership and see if they can sort it? prob charge an arm and a leg though....

Yeah my key fob range isn't very good I have to stand so close I could put the key in the door and unlock it lol. It does extend the range if you stick it to your head and press it but you also look a bit mad, but then again i think people know your a bit mad anyway because you drive a Land Rover.

The offer I got was after buying the all in one key - instead of getting a refund when sending back the programmer in the prepaid jiffy bag, I could send my old fob back and spend the refund on that instead. It all takes a day or two by post, which is brilliant service and very easy..
