Rear door lock removal

Hi all. I have done a search on this and found nothing so here goes. My rear handle is broken, no spring in it's return postion so it is a bugger to shut and means the glass has conflicts with the shutting mecanism. Anyway I have bought a new handle,. I am just waiting for it to arrive. I have read the haynes manual on removal and it seems straight forward right up untill you get to the lock barrel part where it just says unit seems to be part of the handle, consult Landrover dealer! Haynes manual cop out for "we don't have a bloody clue!"
Anyway does anyone know how to seperate the lock barrel from the handle?

I take it you mean the tailgate door handle?

Its easy to remove, take off the inner trim panel then remove the 3 bolts that hold the handle to the door, disconnect the electrical connector and remove. The lock barrel from memory has a large nut that just unscrews - its obvious though how it comes out when you see the innards.

Nope!
Yes I do mean the tailgate handle.
Sounds easy if there is just a big nut. It's just that the Haynes didn't explain anything, like it was a LR dealer job only.
