Hi Guys

My uncles recently bought a Classic range rover in relatively good nick (sorry no pics)

today however he found an issue, he moved the car onto his garden and couldnt get off for love nor money i ended up pulling him off.

Its a v8 auto with lpg and low or high ratio the rear passenger wheel would turn and spin but nothing else would move.

Its a J reg with 161675 miles.

Hope somebody can point us out where to look as its the wrong time of year not to have 4 wheel drive :S

Thanks

so the high low selector has no side ways movement ie manual difflock? (it shouldnt but might....)
Does he have starange tire wear, eg blocks wearing off the tread but the next block not? Once on the tarmac whats the turning cirle like?Is there skidding or jarring on a tight turn?

you check viscous coupling by jacking up one front wheel and turning wheel with 3ft breaker bar should turn stiffly ,if locked so is viscous coupling can be changed with box in vehicle,if you have no front drive viscous is probably seized and front prop removed to save wind up in the transmission or front axke fault ie cv ,half shaft diff etc ,if you jack up wheels one at a time at front one that spins freely will be side with fault

have you done the test yet? this is from hippo our gaylandering friend.
