Hello,

I'm going to be converting my 90 with a 200tdi disco engine next week. Can I use the radiator in my N/A and then make a new mount to support the intercooler somewhere under the bonnet (in front of / behind the radiator)? The rad I've got hold of isn't in the best of conditions so I'd rather use my existing one. Also, can I blank off the oil cooler pipe lugs on the oil filter housing temporarily until I can afford to extend them to the oil cooler in a new 200 tdi rad?

Cheers

sounds like a lot of work.
if you have a disco rad and intercooler and you have a defender rad frame there will be no probs..if you have a disco rad frame you will have to lower the rad mounts and reweld them in place as it will be too high..

i certainly wouldnt bugger about remountin the intercooler somewhere else,as you need the air flow thru it.
i would do it properly from day one it will save time and effort in the long run...

Well, after dismantling the radiator / intercooler system I've found that the intercooler is pretty much buggered. The TIG welded seams on both ends have rotten through slightly in the corners, so it's going to draw all sorts of stuff into the engine. The radiator is pretty shot too, so I'm going to have to make do with my existing radiator for now. I will also have to make a bracket to mount a new intercooler (dunno which model / brand) behind the rad somewhere. There's not a cat in hells chance that I can afford to buy a whole new rad / intercooler assy refurbed. How much is it likely to cost to have the intercooler and the rad? Does any body know of a re-corer around Leeds? I hope that this is the only "downfall" that I have waiting for me! That aluminium has literally just disintegrated like a digestive biscuit.

Cheers
