Whilst having my gearbox sorted another job is replacing the oil cooler to engine gasket.

I noticed the coolant outlet of the oil cooler is blanked off, there is the steel pipe at the back of the engine which goes to the radiator but this isn’t connected, can’t see the bottom of the radiator but guessing this has been blanked off.

Is there a reason for this?

On the later TD5s it feeds the EGR cooler, so if that's been removed or blanked it doesn't do anything.
On earlier TD5s from it went to an inlet on the radiator, but LR brought out an updated radiator design where that inlet was blanked off.
