Does anyone know where I can buy the plastic cowling that encases the back of the radiator and fan?

I broke mine the other day and when I popped into the local L/R dealer, he wanted eighty odd quid plus VAT for one. Not bloody likely!

I phoned Paddock (who supplied the new radiator) and they said it was a dealer part…

Surely someone must make them cheaper…

It’s for a tdi5 90.

Can I run the 90 without it?

Or is the best bet a scrappy?

Oh I forgot! (happens a lot with me :( ) When I was reconnecting the hoses to the new radiator, I've seemed to have lost a pipe. Or at least I think I have... Is the bottom left (as you look at front of landy) rear (the side next to engine) male hose connector supposed to be attatched to anything? I can't find anything that looks as though it should connect onto it, and I have no hoses left lying around.

I have looked at my Haynes manual, but there are no pics of the offending connection. Looking at my old radiator, its hard to tell if anything had been connected.

Is it just a breather (bit strange seeing as it's the bottom one), drain, or are the local rabbits having a joke at my expense?

Early TD5s had an extra return pipe from the fuel cooler which connected to the radiator where you describe. There should also be another small connector opposite on the front of the radiator. Later radiators either have a blank stub to fit the pipe to or nothing there at all. You have an early radiator which you are fitting to a later TD5 which had a revised fuel cooler with only two connections hence the lack of an extra pipe. If you dont have any open ended pipes then ignore it or blank it off if its been drilled.

No, but that's a dammed suggestion Happydog :)

Well, the new rads in and it all seems to work fine, no leaks, well, coming from the radiator anyway.... LOL
