Hi Guys...Did an oil & filter change on my 2008 Disco yesterday and noticed when I removed the top cover that one of the rubber "Bungs" that hold the cover in place over the 4 plastic, ball ended studs is missing.
Had a look on Microcat and the studs are shown but not the "Bungs".
Phoned the local Stealer and they are not listed. They fit into receptacles moulded into the cover and are removable. Price of a new cover is almost £90 + VAT  and a used one from a Scrappy is on Ebay for almost £70.
Obvously, it was displaced and fell off during a previous service (Not by me, I must add-I would have noticed it), and not refitted.
The cover is quite secure and not flapping about and I am not too concerned but I just like things to be right. If the "Bungs" were available I guess they would be no more than a couple of quid, even at JLR prices !!
Has anyone else had the same issue?

hi mate

also had one missing and some of the VW engine cover mountings are similar but unfortunately never found one that was a 100% fit

got some from the breakers in the end

Think mine has all the bungs in place but only holds on 2 or 3 of them, it aint going anywhere especially with the oil cap in place so dont worry.

Tried a couple of breakers but they are only interested in selling the complete cover-if they have one :(

The cover on mine is otherwise in very good condition and the foam soundproofing is undamaged, which is unusual !!
If anyone can locate one from a local scrappy, I would be more than happy to cover all costs involved.
Agreed...the cover can't go anywhere with the filler cap keeping it in place

have u also tried on the D3 forum if anyone may have some spare , also see as a future reference if the foam ever disintegrates there using heat proof sheets as a replacement to the foam

agree, won’t go anywhere , mine rattled though

@Irishrover

here u go, of an old thread i done with all the measurements of the bungs, alas the rubber bungs in the links didn’t work 100 % , so was a breakers job

Thanks for the link Bud-very informative :D
When you mention that you had located them at around £8 each, were they identical to the JLR ones and can you remember the part details and supplier ?
Many thanks
John
