Hi there everybody.

Gearbox dilemma.

I have had an extendend stay in the uk as my grandmother passed away yesterday. I had a ferry booked tomorrow from harwich to Denmark. I live over in Hamburg, Germany.

Basically I have just picked up a series three with a 200tdi conversion. The vehicle is being used to promote my company in hamburg a swell as taking a whole heap of sentimental belongings from my grandmothers home.

This morning whilst at the roundabout in first gear whilst pulling away there was a bang followed by the bag of marbles sound.

I am now pulling off in second gear and whilst stationary with the engine running you can hear broken buts and bobs rattling in the gearbox. The rattling stops when you engage the clutch.

I am after a garage or somebody who can help me to fix it. I fully appreciate that it is Christmas. I do not mind buying new and also I am looking at an overdrive kit whilst the work is being carried out.

Any ideas then all are welcome.

PLEASE no jokers due to this being a sad time.

Thank you in advance

Bugger sorry guys I should have been more specific.

I am currently in the Warwickshire area.

My ferry was booked for tomorrow and I am now waiting to possible change it to 11/01/2013 as the funeral is on the 9th.

Whilst I have time on my side I thought I could rectify the problem here rather than in Hamburg as I would expect things to be cheaper.

If I manage to get the box rebuilt or find a dinar I am also thinking of adding this Ashcroft Transmissions - High Ratio Transfer Case Kit

Regards again and many thanks.

sorry, you posted while i was reading and typing, your a bit out of my area. best of luck sorting it!

might be better of just shipping the whole thing to Luton and get it all done in one go , no second stops, unless you've got it all stripped out , then drag the lot into a van and get down there and swapsy dodar lots of money

Thinking about a high ratio transfer myself.......cheaper than an O/D refurb.

You need a definitive diagnosis of whats wrong with yours 1st really but it's a lot quicker to swap boxes than to pull one apart, find out what needs replacing, order the parts, put it back together and re-fit.

Sorry for your troubles mate :(

Contact Bill at Autoland 01582 472116 Tell him Jai with the camel landy sent you he will liase with ashcroft and will sort you out if you get stuck just PM will do what we can.

Where in Luton would do the work please??

What kind of cost?

I can still drive it but for how long? As long as a piece of string!

As for ashcroft having one on the shelf you'll be lucky my bro waited er 4 or 5 months for a high ratio box. would be easier to get you back to Germany for now to swap the rear diff for a 3.54 just to get you home after the gearbox is sorted. Although I'm normally 99% against that because it cocks up its offroad ability.

Bill at Autoland they do alot for Ashcroft. give them a ring in the morning they are about 2 miles from me and ashcroft are about a mile away.

i would of happily helped you not doing anything at the moment, but lincs is a long way

Cheers for the offer James. I would naturally sort you out in kind or payment.

I could drive/recover her upto yours if you could honestly help out.

Regards

Greg

Sorry if thats SPAM but they guy need help and I'm in no way attached to Bill or Autoland just I've known him for several years used to get some sparess there years ago always sorted me out.

Breakdown cover

Hi there fanatic.

I bought her from a private seller. £1950. I am genuinely happy with her apart from the colour, the seats oh and the gearbox worry!!!

Yes I have breakdown cover however I would rather gamble trying to get her at least on the ferry then recover from Denmark into hamburg, if that would be the case.

I would prefer to get all the work done here. I'm upset as all my tools are in Hamburg hence having to lean on somebody or pay stealer rates!

Regards

Greg

Sounds like a phone call in the morning and James to confirm he has parts as other option
