Managed to shear off one of the water pump bolts, it's stuck in the engine block with only a tiny bit sticking out. How the heck do I get it out? :(

Thanks

Depends how much is sticking out if you can't get grips on it, is there enough to saw a slot in for a screwdriver? If you bust it tightening it up, look a RAVE for torque loadings. A 6 mm bolt does not take that much. Heavy handed comes to mind.

my oil pump bolts are 6mm (8mm head) and i did the same (snap:eek:)
after exploring all available routes i helicoiled it (success :) )
Although I did have to lower the engine off it's mounts to get square on to drill it :(
when checking the torque figures for these bolts from LR I discovered they were only 10nm, so no wonder it snapped

Sheared 2 of mine on the 110, got one out with grips the other had sheared flush, drilled this and tapped out one size down on the original and its been fine for the last year....no leaks.

Another heavy handed bugger. Sense comes at all ages some it misses entirely. :D:D:D

To the OP....helicoiling, isnt just tapping a new thread, it is inserting a new thread coil to match the existing thread size....

If you were to just drill and retap...you'd have to go to the next bolt size up.
