Sudden grinding/screeching noise from water pump

What is a new p gasket by the way, I've seen lots of searches about it but not sure which one it really is. And if I need to remove the fan to do it I don't have the spanner either... My plan was just to replace the broken water pump and get it all refilled and working again asap
 
The P gasket sits behind the water pump casing.
It provides a seal between the water pump and the block.
I've used both silicone and Blue Hylomar when refitting - Blue Hylomar is my preferred.

All sorted and back together, running smoothly and quietly again... Didn't do the p gasket in the end as I needed her back on the road asap. Couldn't and wouldn't have done it without you guys so thanks again 👍👍
