Have a mate coming over tomorrow. Plan is to strip front axle down, see whats wrecked, shoot down to Famous Four as its 15mins down the road, grab what we need and rebuild.
No drive except in diff lock.

shouldnt be too bad a job its not the first axle ive rebuilt and it certainly wont be the last,will put money on it being cv joint collapsed,them new wheels will have finished it off

The plot thickens!
Having stripped the entire front axle down and checking the prop, diff, half shafts, CVs we still havent found the issue. We did find that the clutch master cylinder was dry, oops. Wondering now whether the landy jumped out of gear and i couldnt then get the gearbox to engage into high or low properly unless i smacked it across to diff lock.
Alot of work for potentially a totally different fault.
On the plus side, the near side stub axle spline was wrecked and one of the swivel balls was leaking and the propshaft seal from the diff housing had a small leak too. All these will be sorteso not a total loss.

have permission from the higher power to rebuild it on saturday well till 3pm did you get the swivel ball bolts out ?

was near side outer spline worn onough in drive member to slip, when out of difflock was front prop turning with rear not

if fron prop turns under power with no diff lock with vehicle stationary then you have something broken in diff or axle,are you sure diff drive flange turns diff

diff turns half shaft and cv joint but cv so worn suspecting slipping in the stub axle on nearside

Yep all bolts out. Drivers side practically fell off so ive cable tied it on for now.
James everything in the diff worked fine. Its sat on my garage floor atm. Ive trebled my knowledge on landies today but swift will have to answer owt to technical!

Not being funny but if your front prop was spinning with the vechice stationary there is defently a problem somewhere keep looking!!

Jack one side up spin the wheel and see if the prop turns? Then try the other side is both turn the prop you know it's only under load so it won't be oblivious and will have to double check everything.

it will slip in stub axle as is just tube for wheel to rotate about drive member slipping did you mean the whole drive of vehicle goes through the drive members
