I might've boobed here :confused2:

Just clicked the buy it now on a W 'reg td5, very nice condition low mileage etc but I didn't consider the spec' it appears to be an "S" which seems to be about as low as you can get

Any ideas if it'll have the traction control or not? that's about the only thing I can think of that I'd really miss - until summer at least.

nope, but I'm still happy to walk away if it's not as good as he says it is - I'd consider that a good enough reason to do so.

I've missed out on quite a few that sounded as good because they don't hang around so I've decided to take a chance but will obviously give it a once over before I part with any hard earned - except the relatively small deposit I've paid.

The 'S' has a lot less to go wrong in terms of electronic wizardry, I bought my current D2 on ebay unseen. I was more than happy with it since the seller had underdescribed it, its unlikely somebody would overdescribe a vehicle (probably exceptions ). You wouldn't pay the money until collection anyway, so at worse it's cost you the fuel to get there. On the other hand you could miss out on a good deal ;)

They all have Traction Control, it's part of the ABS system.

.

thanks chaps, good point about there being less to go wrong :cool2:

any ideas why I cant get the "which tyres fit" link to work?

we have an s spec, no sunroofs to leak and rot the boot floor, no aircon to drink fuel and go wrong, coil springs, no airbags/compressors to go wrong, no elec seats to go wrong, the list goes on!!!!

It's got ABS, Traction, and elec windows all round with central locking (when it remembers) and alloys what more do you want?

It's not low spec it's the ultimate spec for a used Disco.......IMHO of course!!!!!

Not having those fecking sunroofs is a real bonus, pain in the ass things:mad:

I used to have a high spec one. The rainroofs leaked, the air suspension went phut so that it looked like a dog dragging it's arse (and was replaced by springs), the active cornering enhancement went bang and the aircon didn't work.

I've now got a younger, lower spec one which, of the above has only aircon (working at the moment). Much better!

Those things were probably excellent when new, fast forward a decade or more, they're just money pits.

Only if not serviced or maintained and things do break so what breaks is repaired or replaced.

But then the only things I've had to do is replace an oil pressure switch, water pump and the multifunction unit that only lated D1s have.
Not bad for a 15 year vehicle, but is always been maintained as it should be.:D

Quite agree, although I'm pleased with my GS I would have preferred an S spec had one been available. Luckily my sunroofs dont leak and I've no intention of ever opening the things either

Mine don't leak where they open,it's where they are screwed to the roof they fecking leak,or did till I sealed them up;)

:lol::lol::lol::lol:I bought an 02 face lift June 2002 with the intention of keeping it 10 years it came up to 100,000 miles last week towing a 1-75 ton caravan 1600 miles from England to Spain . Total parts replaced, 2 rear air springs, wiring for injectors,1 near side hub and brake pads all round, serviced by me from new. during the last ten months 4 people have asked me if i want to sell it.

:) Thought I'd share;

Not gonna stay that clean for long

Thanks again for all the help

It is kinver sand apparently, very nice!

It's a td5, gradually working through the minor issues it has. Need to look at the central locking on the rear door - locks but doesn't unlock.

The engine's not as sweet as I'd like it to be given its 74k, I'm hoping a good service and adjust the injectors will help, any suggestions? Doesn't misfire but has what we used to call "diesel knock" (a bit like pinking) especially when cold.
