2003 Disco TD5 ES manual. No ACE.
Hi all,
Yesterday at a traffic light the pipe blew out of the n/s airbag and it sunk onto the bump stops. Being the Friday before a B/H w/e, I decided not to bother the AA and drove it the 10 miles home, cross country - far easier than expected & a bit reminiscent of my former Series 3 on cobbles!
Anyway today I replaced the offending pipe. The bags inflated fine, but the n/s which blew, took itself up to full off road height and won't come down. I've tried repeatedly pressing the dashboard button without effect.
The bags are Contitech and 5 years old, so were going to be replaced shortly anyway.
Could the sensor be knacered or is there an adjustment I can make with a Hawkeye?
I am minded to switch to coils as the risk of a pipe blowing out again is not reassuring!
Any ideas gratefully received!

Yes, could well be a knackered ride height sensor &/or the connector(s) going to it has corroded/wires broken otherwise it sounds like it needs calibrating if your hawkeye can do that.

Thanks for that Andy. After a bit of thought I ordered coils & some new shocks last night!
I appreciate that mechanically, air is a pretty simlple and reliable system, but it could have done it in a busy Weymouth the day before with a heavy trailer behind! My labs never complained about the ride on the back seat of my previous 300 tdi!

As you say the air spings set up is pretty straightforward but whatever suits your needs best..... Don't forget you'll need to tell the BCU you've converted to coils & tell your insurance company it's 'modified' from std especially if it was a seven seater, all the best.
