Now i know what your going to say 'Its a v8 if you want good mpg buy a TDI'. How ever i'm getting 7mpg round town and 11mpg on a run from my 1998 disco v8. It has Lpg convertion but does the same on gas/petrol so can't be owt to do with the lpg?.
It runs/drives fine no missfires or back fires . Plugs are a nice nutty brown when inspected and has just had a full service. I rarely take it above 2000rpm and have a very light right foot 98k on clock.
Any ideas on common issues / constructive help ,or is this the best i can hope for? I have heard of other people acheiving 14 - 19 mpg

when i put 70L(about £35) of gas in mine i do about 200 miles (13MPG) and thats on roads and towns around rural wales not motorways. i would expect better MPG on the motorway.

SO general opinion is that i should be getting more. Any idea on common things to check sensors etc??

I'veonly had my 96 LPG V8 since last November but I've been averaging about 300 mile per 75 Litres of gas solo and about 200 with the caravan on.

Just a point, having read alot about these 3.9 Discos and with my own (short) experience of them I wonder if yours is set up wrong because it seems that the ones that are getting good mpg on gas run fine and start fine on gas but do run a bit lumpy on petrol. I could be way of base with these thoughts but it does seem strange when you read so many are lumpy on petrol(like mine) but start and run well on gas. Dave

Yes mines a single point gas conversion so starts on gas then auto switches once about 2000rpm

Surely you mean starts on petrol then switches over to gas, don't you? Otherwise you won't be saving much dosh if the car is running on petrol most of the time :cool::D

Hi
Sorry yeh starts on petrol switches to gas.
I've found a local landy specalist with a diagnosic setup for the v8 plus he know about lpg conversions. Taking it to him tomorrow so maybe he'll fine somat??
Andy

Update
Took it to garage to have it plugged in to diagnosic comp. Drivers side Lambda sensor found to be u/s ( same sensor was taped into for LPG) new sensor fitted now monitoring the mpg.
