it's been 5 weeks since I picked up a a 2002 vogue v8 for really silly money. A big gamble but at present paying off. Gearbox has an intermittent fault when selecting drive or reverse. LPG prinns was not registered and empty and faults like headlight wiper and rear door not opening where abundant. My excuse to buy was if it went bang on the road to home I could break it and still get my money back.The gearbox has self diagnosing ability’s. Now has no problems due to the daily use I’m giving it the door was a replacement actuator headlight was I’m still looking into. LPG was fitted in Holland and is now registered and serviced and now returning around 25 mpg. Fully serviced by me and everything electrical works. My old P38 was on springs but loved it this old bus just gets better. Moral of the story is don’t listen to every horror story about RR. If it’s broken it’s on a forum very few people go on one and say how brilliant there motor is. Mine has 118k on the clock no rust cost £2200 and now owes me just under 3k. That’s a lot of comfort and toys for little money
 
Sounds good, a gamble but if your prepared to spanner and have the ability to sort things out then why not give it ago,
there are some bargains out there :)
 
There are and I might just have been lucky. I was nearly put off with threads about vanos failure and timing chains but look at the amount of V8s out there with over 170 k still going strong. Most faults are common sense and fairly easy to fix but lots of owners of earlier models just let the faults mount up and then slag RR off for being unreliable. When it breaks fix it don’t leave it until you have 10 faults that need doing. Parts are cheap if you look around and there are plenty of good indi garages around to help at a reasonable cost.
