And I have 3 spare oil filters as I chuck the air filters every 6 months but it's not worth dropping the oil at that time, fuel filter is easy enough though so that gets stuck on, plus I carry a spare. At that price - why not!

a new filter may well cost just over £6, but I have a K&N cone-shaped air filter at the moment (until I get the snorkel hooked up),so cleaning is the only option really!

Sorry to bring this up again, but if you want the best mpg out of an auto , leave it in 3rd when doing under 40 mph. This is not bull**** I have tried it myself and Im getting an extra 3mpg .This means 22mpg becomes 25 mpg. If you dont believe me try it yourself .You might be surprised.

by leaving it in third though, all I'm going is preventing it from going into 4th... i have no way to lock it into third ("3" on the gear stick gives the car permission to go into 1st, 2nd *or* 3rd).

Does that tie in with your experience?

On a TDi you are right. On a Disco 2 auto if you select 3 you will get torque converter lockup as well as in D.

Which comment of nathan's? There are 90 odd posts on this thread have you read them all? There are over 1.1 million posts on this forum have you read them all? When you do you will see how much useful advise there is. Untill you read a bit more I suggest you shut the **** up or **** off to another site.

300 tdi 38 mpg on a run and 32 normal driving
td5 36mpg on a run and 30 normal driving
