Are you sure the rad aint blocked. The salisbury mud sets like concrete and is a bastid to get out your rad. When I blocked mine on my last landy, The amount of mud that came out it looked like I had washed the entire vehicle and not just the rad.

Can you see through the fins clearly? My money is on fecked rad.

listen to him tigger, hes the man.:D

well I wish I'd taken that bet...

thanks again to all .. Boomer on the phone tonight and getting the rad off and cleaned out was discussed however....

thermostat in a pan of water and no movement until the water boiled.. so thermostat left out for run to Kernow in the AM and everything crossed... have had a run out in it tonight and temp doesn't rise above normal until I keep it at about 4000 revs.. which I wont be doing with the caravan on the back.. so although still everything crossed and still have to get that timing sorted I am ready to trust it for the drive..

maybe he didnt

and in anger he typed a post full of f**k and s**t and c**t and t**t and he's now banned??

reckon he's sorted an enjoyin himself now tho, good on him :beer2:

i really hope he got to his destination without any probs, after all he has done and gone through.:D:clap2::car::beer2:

I hope so too! but equally it is the fear factor of going into the unknown that make running a temperamental V8 such fun. I once went out with a friend of mine and said don't worry about the misfire, it does that! oh and I've got RAC! Took me 12 months to get it running properly and it hasn't missed a beat since - very satisfying if I do say so myself.

well I am back from my hols..

the car boiled over before I got to Frome and I got someone to come get me in a mondeo.. I took the mondeo on to cornwall with the caravan on the back and the landrover's been on the drive ever since.. need to recover from hols before I do any more to it though.. .

thanks fellas... gonna do a compression test just to rule out me cocking up the heads.. after that will get myself a strobe and set timing with that.. after that will replace or repair dizzy (if I can get hold of those little springs) then replace rad.. if none of them work then I'm stumped.. but that's a couple of weekends work anyway..

Before you spend fokal on it make sure it aint them heads or liners thats pressurizing the system, and that means getting a sniff test done, or find an additive to add to the coolant system that changes colour if gasses are present.
