This is my first post.

I have recently bought a 2004 Mk 2 ES Premium Disco.
:rolleyes:I will be using it to tow my caravan mainlly in France and Spain.

Can the headlights be adjusted to dip the other way or do I need to buy a LHD set

why bother! just get a set of those reflector stickers from halfrauds have took my 90 and our sprinter works van to france fair few times now and no decernable differance in the lighting they still seem to light the right bits of road (and when you get back to uk just gently peel um off and save fpor the next trip );)

Hi Mike, I don't think there is an adjuster for this, so you will need get those stick on beam adjusters, or LR do some some-clip beam adjusters.

I'm assuming this is just a temporary holiday requirement ?

Thancks for reply. I did think of that but Halfords say they do not stock a converter for my lights.
They are the same as tose on a mk3 with a plastic cover over them.

Hopefully it will be a permanent thing as I am buying a place just outside Cocumont near Bergerac.

The Mk3 disco has adjustable headlamps but have to be move to get access to carry out the ajustment that's why, maybe, you see D3's fitted with the stick on beam converters.

So easy with a D1 just a bit of sticky tape require as easy as that, so much for progress. :D

Hi Mike, re the headlights, if it's permanent you will need to import your car into France and part of that process will be a Contrôle Technique (mot) and at that stage you will almost certainly need LHD headlights. I say almost because I have heard of the occasional driver who got away with beam converters, but most CT people will demand LHD lights.

They (LHD ones) can be purchased from www.paddockspares.co.uk fr about £125+vat each

Incidently I pass through Bergerac every month on the way to see my sister near Cancon, 50kms south of Bergerac.

when importing cars from the usa the headlights ar adjusted buy twisting the bulbs in the headlights most bulbs are fitted at about a 10* angle it is a matter of twisting the bulb to a 10* angle the other way

Hi Martin, I've no experience of the facelifted Disco II headlights, but prefacelift and previous TDi headlight units use H4 bulbs, they are very familiar and they will only go into the socket one way, they don't fit in two ways as your post implies - unfortunately.
