I have been very honest with the following description, i wouldnt mess anyone about, i take great care of all my cars as they are a passionate hobby of mine. I have completely transformed this car to a great extent, the car is mechanically sound, no knocks or bangs, or strange noises. Engine runs very sweet with some tuning upgrades. Very tough car, great on and off road, great in snow and ice, very impressive Landrover Freelander, not like many you find today, this is very unique.
Massive amounts of work done.
- ENGINE is the 2.0l TD4 (BMW M47) with Jatco Auto Box, Recently serviced by myself with the following: Castrol GTD oil, GM OAT (Red) Antifreeze, New Brake Fluid, K&N replacement filter, Diesel filter.
Also has had the standard LR crankcase breather filter replaced with the upgraded BMW Cyclone filter (very imported part for the Turbo on a TD4 so now never needs replacing).
Green Silicone Hoses have replaced the standard Air Intake (Plus an F1-Z double blade fan for extra air feed) and Green Silicone hoses to replace the turbo intercooler hoses, both with aluminium couplers and bends and new jubilee clips.
The fluid caps are painted silver as is the fuse and ECU box.
Green vacuum hoses for Brake Servo and coolant return hose. And Chrome wire conduit.
- INTERIOR has had many parts filmed with Carbon fibre vinyl, new gear shift leather gaiter, Green LEDs in the foot wells, air vents and windscreen A-Pillars (All switched and fused at the correct amperage). Turbo boost gauge which reads in BAR.
- EXTERIOR has had much work done including Meshed grill, Genuine Landrover Safari 3000 Spotlights (with genuine wiring and switches), Genuine Landrover Fog lights (again with genuine wire loom and switches). Day time running lights (wired properly using a specific relay so they will turn off when dipped lights are turned on). Roof racks fitted with 4 roof spotlights (these still have the original bulbs in but I do have new ones for them, just haven’t fitted them) the bulbs to replace them are brighter white ones which are also in the Headlights, Sidelights and Fog lights). All interior and exterior bulbs are replaced with LED bulbs including side lights, all indicators except front, rear fog, rear reverse, 3rd brake, number plate and all interior bulbs. The headlamps have the black light guards and the rear lamps have the chrome light guards. Both number plates have chrome surrounds.
- MECHANICALLY the car is now spot on, I’ve owned it for one year and in that time I’ve have done the following to which now I can’t see anything mechanically at fault: Replaced Starter Motor, Replaced Oil Cooler, Auxiliary belt, Air Con belt, Anti roll bar drop links, anti roll bar bushes and the anti roll bar is 100% give or take fully centralised.
Whole new braking system including upgraded vented discs, EBC Ulitimax Pads, complete strip down of drums, including new shoes, adjusters, springs and pins (at this time the brake fluid was replaced). Drums and Callipers are painted silver. Handbrake is adjusted perfectly at the time two new LH and RH cables were fitted. New front passenger side Wishbone (complete with bushes and ball joint).
Four nearly new tyres around 9 months old with at least 6mm or more of tread. (Infinity INF200) and they hardly look like they’ve worn down at all.
Suspension all in good condition. New battery terminals and new power cables to starter motor, engine bay fuse box and negative to earth. Upgraded crankcase breather filter (BMW cyclone) and EGR bypass kit (made a big difference in performance and economy.
BAD POINTS – Propshaft has been removed but I do have it with all the fixings bolts, both shafts and VCU is in full working order, I only removed it to grease the parts and I never got round to replacing it but that was only a couple of weeks ago (UPDATE: PROPSHAFT HAS NOW BEEN REFITTED EXCEPT REAR SECTION WHICH I WILL DO WHEN I GET TIME).....Sunroof doesn’t work (I’ve removed the fuse for it because if it’s opened you will not be able to close it. Air con needs regassing. The drivers doors looks like it’s been scraped by another car so its slightly dented in (not too bad) I’ve used a black turtle wax crayon and polish to cover where the paint was taken off, to be honest it’s really not that bad and hardly noticeable. There’s a crack in the back plastic bumper about 3 inches long by the driver’s side rear light (again, not that bad at all). And it just has the average amount of light scratches you would expect from a 12 year old car, but the body does polish up very well and still has a lovely shine. I’m just very picky.
Part Service History (Up to around 100,000) Then Last serviced at 148,000.
Gear box oil was replaced about 2 months ago.
Tax runs out end of this month (August, I would go and tax it now but I have cancelled my insurance so I can’t obtain a tax disc. Test drives welcome at your own risk as there is no insurance and test drives will only be made around the cul-de-sac where I live and not on any main roads. (I’m only being sensible and wouldn’t put you, myself, others or the car at risk.
Price is non negotiable, I won’t settle for less than £2800,00, no silly offers or time wasters.
With the bad points aside you will not be disappointed with this freelander, which I have spent a lot of time, money and effort to get it in the condition it is. It’s very impressive, turn’s heads, I’m always getting compliments, the engine bay looks fantastic as does the rest of the car, you won’t find another freelander as unique as this. As a good TD4 AUTO is hard to come by nowadays.
