Hi Chaps,
I've owned my Disco for 2 years now and we have a love/hate relationship like all other Discos and their owners.
My Disco's previous abuser only handed over 1 key and fob, not that unusual for a 12 year old vehicle.
Now I had a new two button remote sorted at Johnstone and Perrott in Cork last week and new key cut. Turns out the the barrel in the Disco and the fuel cap have been changed.
Now I have never been able to use the locks manually for the doors always via the key fob.
My independent and very reliable locksmith tells me that there is a unique code that should have been on the original barrell and had the previous owner not been such a tioght wad he should have replaced it with one of these from LR.
Had anyone had any such experience? All I want to do is start the car and open the doors with a single key
:fencing:

All help as always graciously recevied.

Yup, I can open with a fob and start and run with the key I have, I'm just royally confused with the whole matching up door barrels to ignitions barrels.
I guess that I am predicating the inevitable dead battery and the ability to still be able to get in the disco.

So you saying that the key for the ignition switch and the fuel flap lock is the same one and thats the only key you have which doesn't fit the three door locks.

Looks like you need to purchase a lock set then one key will fit all if that's what you want.
If you happy with just having two different keys then, assuming all the door locks barrels are the same, take one out and any auto locksmith will make you a key to the profile of that barrel.
I never found it a problem having two keys when the igniton switch was changed on a car I owned once long ago :)

You have it spot on there.
As for the Auto lock specialist, these weasels in cork are supposed to be that specialist.
I'm more than happy with two keys just as long as the doors open with out power.
I'm just getting one step ahead of the spiders as I know it's going to happen at some point. (that or I'm tempting fate).

Thanks for tip Discool.

Oh BTW in the time it's taken to type this the auto lock weasel has come back and suggested a chap in Enniscorthy so lets see what happens there!
Don't really want to fork out for full lock set if I can help it. Would rather spend the money on a respray and a 2" lift kit :p
Cheers

Chris

Locksmith the best way forward :D let the forum know how u get on..Ok

Just a thought, the locksmith may have a tool/s that he can insert that will find the profile of the barrel so you won't need to remove the lock barrel?????????
