I’ve had my Disco for about 6 months, I was getting low battery in remote message so I put new batteries in both my daily use remote and my spare, everything was fine for a good few weeks, a few days ago my remote stopped working completely, my spare will unlock the back hatch and lock the doors but won’t unlock them I have to use the key, anybody got any suggestions please

Will the doors lock & unlock correctly using the buttons inside the car?
Have you tried a replacement key battery again?
Are the key buttons damaged?
Have you tried a starter battery disconnect / reconnect?

Ideally you need someone with a 433MHz receiver to check the key is transmitting something with each button press, most TPMS coding / diagnostic tools have this ability so try some tyre fitters to see if they can test the keys for you. It could just be that the keys are ageing....

I’ve since had the aa out they tested both keys and both are transmitting fine, once I’m in the car I can lock and unlock doors using the buttons inside, only happens once I’ve locked the car using the fob

If the locks are cycling OK then that rules out the CJB & individual locks, so it's most likely the receiver which sends commands to the CJB, which in turn, signals the locks. Further testing by someone with the skills & equipment is required at this stage.

Is auto electrician ok or do they have to specialise in Land Rover

Should be OK, as long as they know about SLIN (Secure Local Interconnect Network) communications and are not just 'starters & alternators' types... It's not a system unique to LR's, just requires some understanding.
