What an intro to range rover repairs , I have just spent all day removing the starter motor from my rangie. Have to say it was made a little easier by reading some posts on here, although I couldn't find much info on the topic...if anyone needs some advice on removal tactics, please ask...it's a nasty job. It took 3 goes, over 2 days, lying on thick ice with numb fingers....don't let it defeat you, it CAN be done !
Sometimes, just reading that someone else has achieved the repair you thought impossible, is all you need to skin that very last finger ...
Excellent forum and I'll no doubt be using it plenty more...

Cheers juiceyv8 ..
Jj the range .the bottom bolt was a piece of cake. It was the top bolt that gave me a headache...in the end I managed to rig extension bars and insert from the front, by the oil filter, with a long bar on, cracking the nut wasn't too hard...it was a lengthy repair for such a simple strip and swap. Managed to get a vaneo starter for £120 this morning ( ouch). Now starts like a dream, fires a second after turning the key..the only problem is .........I couldn't get the top bolt back in ! So the motor is currently only been held in with the bottom bolt! It is rock solid though ..am I going to cause headaches if I don't sort it ? I had to give up as I need to get to work today...been off the road since christmas day.

I can locate it, but can't get the angle to make it bite. Back under for round 12 later this avo :)
