by the looks of that it needs annealing good n propper the trick is to anneal landrover alloy remember its not pure aluminium its actually something called bermabrite its a mix of aluminium and magnesium so you just cant go waveing a blowlamp at it

the best method of anealing with a blowlamp is to first get the paint off it then paint pure fairy liquid on one side of the metal then heat the other side till you see the fairy liquid on the other side turn to a kind of caramel golden colour then yer know its at optimum temperature and just needs allowing to cool naturally

if you just bash that wing without annealing you will crack the panel in the curved area at the top corner of the wing

ok so iv managed to bend the bumper back to near enough its original shape using a 5 foot crowbar and a vice. the wing is a bit lumpy but looking better than it was. all i gotta do now is give it a couple coats of the nato green tmoz. thanks for the advice guys and ofcourse the ****taking but that goes without saying i guess

When I bent my old bumper like that I tied it to the back of my grandma's disco 3 and reversed :D

Right simple job,get your self a piece of 3x2, remove inner wing, rad expansion bottle & PAS bottle to allow room. Remove headlight and sidelights anorl.

Stick piece of 3x2 in through the engine bay to the rear of the injury and give it a few good taps.

When you think it's straight ( which i bet it wont be ) line the Landy up facing a wall or garage door and turn on your headlights. Measure a line across the beam shown and tap the front wing from the inside ( or out of you've gone too far ) until both lights are aligned.

The wing where you hit will 90% of the time upset the headlamp alignment, when you come to an MOT and it's out, it's a pain to have to go back just for that and the adjustments on the lamp itself aren't usually sufficient to adjust it back from a knock.

If you're not sure, check the archive link in my sig, i straightened mine for an MOT and it was alot worse than yours and posted pics n stuff about it, its a long thread mind, but its in there ;)

That's not bad, you've added more character to it imo.

You now have a good excuse to upgrade the bumper.

I'd also spray it black or maybe G4 orange depending on whether or not you like to stand out.
