Is there audible indication whilst running, that the transfer box viscous coupling
on my P38 is seizing? I'm getting intermittent metallic screeching barely audible from cold and building with distance

If I was gonna help him for not introing himself I would say it sounds like a dry thrust bearing on the clutch But seeing as i 'm not gonna help him its the heater fan

you can check viscous coupling by jacking one front wheel up and trying to turn wheel with big bar on wheel nut if viscous is okay will turn very stiffly and smoothly ,if lkocks so is coupling id also look at prop ujs any play in them and there buggered

Apologies to all offended by my LandyZone debut and failure to provide an introduction. I did not appreciate the etiquette involved. I have an 8 year-long love/hate relationship with a 96 P38. Despite infrequent use it continues to require costly attention - the most recent instance being substitution of the AES with springs - very successful and LandyZone inspired. This prompts me to keep the car going,but now I have a seized viscose coupling (Stratstone quote £290 for replacement and fitting) and perhaps more worryingly, the light metallic trilling sound which I described in my posting. It would appear from comments that the two are not associated,and in fact I have subsequently noted that the noise varies in intensity and seems to be related to throttle pressure rather than road speed. Any insights would be greatly appreciated
