now thats cheap motoring, shame about the petrol

Yes, older motors do have their advantages Fett! My low mileage/zero rot '87 RR gets comp. insurance cover, inc £6K agreed value, for £128 although obviously I get hit for £205 VED. As for the fuel, unleaded has dropped a whole 4p per litre around here lately (whoopee) but diesel is currently 8p dearer! Glad I'm a petrolhead.

To qualify the vehicle must have been manufactured pre 1st January '73 hence it can still be zero rated if first registered after that date. There has been talk of the 'concession' being re-introduced as a rolling date but probably set for 30yr old vehicles. Don't hold your breath though folks

Yep they set the date as the time they changed the law (1997) - 25 years = 72. My 72 Imp is Tax exempt.
