overlanders liverpool would you like me to get phone number for you? he a good guy helpfull and i would not say cheep but affordable

Really need to get the magic box onto yours to check the feedback and also check wiring etc.
Could be that yours has not yet reached the point where the light comes on, maybe that's when it is down to 2mpg !!!!
As with most things, you get a feeling something is not right..in your case..can't pass a petrol pump..and have to accept that it is not normally the situation that a warning lamp will come on.
As time goes on, you get to know the car and all it's different traits. Unfortunately, things have gone wrong too early.

whats the old magic box? testbook?
i dont think the car car has gone wrong early? i think that these problems have been there
for a while. i was taken in by its looks, and am spotting something new wrong with it
everyday. now the mrs has started "get rid of it" she says. she misses the old shogun
and to be honest so do i.
but nevermind ive got it now so we shall see...

i still cant sort this rave thing out.....

It's my box of tricks!! Rovacom/Faultmate, Autologic, or dealers Test Book.
Most individuals and independants tend to go for Rovacom/Faultmate or Autologic.
Test Book is a dedicated system on a rollaround cart whereas the others tend to be PC based. Out of those Rovacom/Faultmate is the most versatile and can perform functions, with the right software that Test Book cannot, e.g. unlocking BECM's.

argh right well if you lived in yarmouth or somewhere closer ( got to think of the petrol )
i would pay you a visit.

now going to fit the sensors, they have turned up at last.
i never realised they had holes in the end:eek:

Used to go on holiday when I was a kid to East Runton and sit outside The White Horse with my bag of crisps (Remember the blue bag of salt) and a bottle of pop whilst my Dad was downing a couple of pints!!

sent them back today,
they are differant on pre 97. you would have expected them to know that.
instead they listed them as fitting all p38's.
anyway today i am looking for advice on buying a volt meter or multi meter
as i want to have a play. any idea which one i should go for?

Go for a multimeter with LCD display, no need to go for the top of the range..they are cheap enough. You need to be able to read millivolts, amps up to 10A, resistance and of course AC and DC volts up to, say 500 volts.
If you have not had much experience of them, be sure to read & understand the instructions as they fry easily if you have them on the wrong selection.

nothing - a VERY useful bit of kit - but this is a Rangie here - it is difficult to read data on a lamp - Morse is OK , but Kilostreaming on the Canbus takes a quick eye ;).

Have yu ever tried resistive or current measurements using a lightbulb?

:praise: if you have :D

i have found this
Four Wire Titania Sensor

Colour Connection
Black Ref. (out)
Yellow Ref. (in)
Red Heater (+)
White Heater (-)

Universal Titania Sensor
Output 0 to 5 Volt*

so would i be right to assume black is positive and yellow is negative

if i disconnect the switch would it be possible to test the connecters for voltage.
obviously i mean the end connected to the car. i am trying to establish whether
or not the sensors are actually getting power to them to do their thing.
