how to prove theft to ins company RR HSE

is it possible to prove to an insurance company how an 02 RR HSE could be stolen or lifted and recovered however it dissapeared, without the key ?

Ins company refusal to pay out on theft as they say its impossible without key !
anyone else had the same issue ?
some poor guy on another forum asking for lega advice !

Why would you have to prove how it was stolen? How on earth would you know?

Of course it's not impossible to steal one without the key. Might be difficult to drive it away, but that's not the only way of stealing one. What a bizarre thing to claim. Name and shame!!

It doesn`t sound like the right question from the insurance company, I would expect that the majority of cars are stolen without the keys present so I suspect there is more to the underlying question .

Need to know if he still has the keys, where it was parked, police reference number etc, but it's prob in bits on fleabay by now

Insurance companies always try anything to get out of paying, I always found that the threat of legal action worked wonders.

Most cars are taken without the key???? Mine was 15 years back!!

Mine was taken by the council once... pretty sure they didn't have a key

My mate had his almost new Merc nicked from outside our house on a residential street. No-one saw or heard a thing. Yes of course it's possible, it happens every day.

Tell them to talk to the cops, parking enforcement companies and Thatcham.
I think that the word ombudsman springs to mind.

I've just watched that video of the Aston being lifted away. It didn't even trigger the car's alarm!! Scary.

You need quite a big Hiab to lift a rangerover. Most 7.5-12 ton vehicles won't be able to lift an 02 plate rangie with a crane. I bet the alrm went off on that aston martin after he hit the first bump/pothole in the road. The alarm will only go off if the vehicle has tilt or bump sensors.

We also had a case locally of up to 6-month old high end Beemers and Mercs being stolen...

The thieves had people working on the inside of dealerships, usually in parts department. When a new car was processed which matched an order they had, the chap at the dealer ordered in a spare key direct from the factory.

This key was then kept, and as the dealer knows the customers address, a few months later the car was whisked away at the dead of night with no damage whatsoever...

Took them a while to suss it was the dealer
