200tdi disco 32/34 mpg all day long..on veggy :)

When I had me Tdi I found the problen wuz gittin the veggys in me tank. Lil' fekers would struggle and moan that they had a demo ter go to. sometimes i cun't prise the copy of the Guardian frum their spindly hands. Sometimes I even found foxes hidden amongst their ill fitting, woven hemp, crochetted out of FKN MUESLI ATTIRE..................THE DIRTY BASTIDS!

Sarcasm - who me, how could you suggest such a thing, I'm hurt !!

I most humbly beseech you to accept my sincerest apologies for my lack of comprehension. I am a fool, nay I am the fools fool, not even that. I strive to be a good human being but I continue to fail miserably.

Where is my sword..........................

By the way the new Disco's running really well now,

cheers
Dave

What an absolute Gentlemen, you should go far..............there's a plane leaving.....

Yeah I know, it's old - so am I !!

But, today I got nearly 45mpg - I was going down this hill into Guéret......

Tyres well over inflated, no roof rack. Haven't looked at the brakes for a while, might be an idea - good suggestion, ta.

Don't forget the "sooper dooper" polish, especially on the 'front end' can improve by 1-2mpg

(ever run your hand over an F1 car, the're VERY shiney)

Just been 300 miles this weekend including 2.5 hours stuck in traffic with the engine running around crawling in D1.

Filled up to the brim there and when I got home and my 300TDI Auto did 29.5 mpg which considering the terrible traffic (also stuck around Cambridge, M25 etc) I don't think that's bad.

Also had three fat blokes in the car and a crap load of camping gear.

This is a lot better than what I would have got last year, but since then I have done the EGR, de-cat, kept it well services and also now run on fully synthetic 10w/40. Oh and don't go much over 65mph.

Over a 5 year period with my td5 the consumption has averaged 28 hitting 31 once on a long trip from Lincoln to Somerset, I will admit that is a massive difference over my V8 that was doing 15mpg but now has bigger tyres and lift and returns an impressive 11mpg (this is all worked out on LPG and its from brim to run dry)

Bear in mind that the odometer runs of the gearbox so putting bigger tyres on changes the gearing and so will affect the readout of the miles you've done.

You will almost certainly find that you have actually done more miles than the odometer is saying, therefore more actual mpg!

I have a stock Discovery Td5 with Pirrelli ATR tires. Last full tank 8.8l/100km which is about 32mpg. This is the best figure i got so far. On average my disco takes between 27 to 30mpg.

Are you any good with pet rats?

I had two that i quite liked but they deed about five years since... If i post em, will you bring them back to life anorl ? ;)

Hi just done 277 miles using 8.1 gallons, brim to brim, 240 of which motorway cruising at 65 the rest around town. So pretty impressed with my new TD5 with 106k full service and EGR blanking plate. 34.2 Mpg is not bad for a 2 ton lump? 😉
