Hot hot hot

So guys, new to this, have a defender 110 , 14 year
I have no a/c and heater blows hot all the time, even when on cold.
Any ideas guys

look at the cable were it secures on heater box,ensure it has travel to push flap both ways

Sorry but where's the heater box

under bonnet lhs of bulk head

If it's a 2014 model it's more likely to be the cables and flaps within the dash assembly itself.

So James, looks like you know your stuff, where the cable connects to heater box under bonnet, when you turn control to cold in cab, the cable bends rather than pushes the controller on the heater box thus not changing to cold far enough. I would assume this is a new cable guys ????

Either that or the flap is seizing up, can you actuate it manualy?

What oil works the clutch, is it DOT 4

With the clutch it is not going to get that hot so it doesn't really matter. Generally the higher the DOT rating the higher the boiling point. So a higher DOT number in the brake fluid will keep the brakes functional if you're thrashing them on the racetrack. Apart from LHM fluid which is oil based and DOT 5 which is silicone based, most other things are ethylene glycol, so more like anti freeze than oil. Yes, DOT 4 should be fine.

It could also be the cable is not secure in the clip that pinches the cable....meaning cable moves instead of heater control lever.
