INERTIA SWITCH !!!!!!!!!!!
Square looking thing on n/s bulkhead with a rubber top on it.
Press the top down and you should hear a click, then try and re-start!

If a Disco 1 it may be down by the acc pedal area, check your hand book!

Inertia switch and the wiring connector underneath it would have been my first port of call.

I'd hope that the AA guy would have checked that first. If it turns out to be the fault I'd be writing in and complaining.

What is this a moan about the AA or a question on what should I look for to help myself get going again.
Inertia switches, there are two on a petrol D1, the one that (as mr ratty says) cuts the fuel by switiching off the fuel pump.
The other one is part of the alarm/central locking system, which I would have thought should have also activated in unlocking your doors (if locked) but also activating the hazard flashers.. with a bump as you discribe..

On that note it could also be a dry joint on the alarm spider.

Touche Sean!

It sucks to hear of your misfortune, but regular maintenance with a trusted mech and servicing sorts these kind of issues...as will learining, your said technical detail is purely relying on the 'servicebookoftheinternet'

60% of info is great, 40% is useless...it's up to you to decide what's appropriate. There are opportunities to learn the basics and be able to relay any concerns on in a distinct manner, but you have chosen to slag out the RSA and give little else for info. Elaborate or be educated. ;)

wtf

If it happens to be a 2.0 mpi, the inertia switch/fuel cut off is located on the n/s bulk head behind the washer bottle. Not sure where the v8 one is, but that may be a good place to look first.

thanks, for the suggestions guys and sorry about the gramma and things.i was a bit ****ty after waiting about for 5 hours, anyway the disco in question is a1994 V8 3.9efi, with single point lpg conversion, and the guy from the AA,rang the tech dept, about the inertia switch . and was told that it didnt matter, as it wouldn't cut out the fuel and the ignition at the same time.after looking under the rear offside wheelarch, under the dash where the fuse box is.He couldnt find it,i'll look in the morning when weather's better.as for where i am i'm in Leeds, just outside village called KIPPAX, and soory i came over a bit of a pratt.as for the moan see above just being a pratt, thanks again.Adi.

just about to start, will let you know what happen's,thanks.right there is no inertia switsh on this disco.i have looked in the engine compartment, behind washerbottle, bulkhead, behind the insert next to the throttle, behind the fuseboard under the steering wheel, i have just looked at the sheet from the AA it say's there is a very weak spark and the injectors are not working,i disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and tried again, but the engine still turns over without firing,
