Evening all,
Like many here, I have tried to search various threads but not really winning.
I was planning to knock up a similar Roof rack to (Scotland to Mongolia) man.
Essentially it will be square tubing in a diagonal cross on the roof, with side supports to reinforce it, and little vertical pins on each corner.
I was planning to use it as a Hammock holder, by having smaller square tubing extend from the main 'cross' section.
1. Would this roofrack set up support via the gutter rail,
2. What metal is best for this?

Has anyone attempted this sort of thing before, rather like most folk here and trying to steer clear of spending several hundred quid for what is essentially a big wire basket !!!
