Hello there

My 2002 V6 freelander won't start. Some days it's fine, it starts perfectly but other days I sit there for half an hour turning the key, trying to get her going.

I've had the car put on several machines which say there is 'no fault' add to this that everytime I take it in to a garage, it starts perfectly. The mechanics scratch their heads and say 'the computer says it's okay' - but its not. The next day it will take me half an hour to start.

It's done just 42,000 miles, I'm the second owner, and hasn't had any issues. Anyone heard of this problem? Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Chris (airpapo)

sorry to hear that. they are normally very reliable motors. try taking it to another garage - preferably an indy.

oh - welcome to looneyzone, by the way.

Thanks Guys!!!
I went an indy garage and he stuck in on a machine and said i was fine after putting a new battery in it, new crank shaft sensor and a full service. The next day it wouldn't start

It is in Park when I try to start it.

When I try and start it, it tries to start but just doesn't catch. Cheers folks

I woulda said crank sensor but you have already tried that.

Next time you go to start it press your accelerator pedal right down to the floor and then turn the key. DO NOT PUMP THE PEDAL. Leave it flat to the floor.I am guessing that it is flooding and that you have a faulty cold start sensor. By flooring the accelerator you will actually stop the fuel coming through rather than add more cos the ecu should override you. Once it starts then lift off the pedal.

I know i've asked already. But that was yesterday a.m. does anyone know where the IAT is on the freelander. cheeeeeeeeeeers.

Intake Air Temprature sensor ??? should be in the air box follow wiring going into the box should look like a small glass or metalic bauble.

tuggy - i fink its in the Rave!
Hello mhm. I tried downloadin that rave yesterday bout 10 rudy times an i still couldnt get past 10%. I give up on it in the end. I've done numerous google searches and got nowhere. I thought i'd try the larger audience that comes on in the pm. Rudy things driving me nuts this week. TC lights come on Hill Descent amber, Central locking playin up and air conditioning. When they built this one they definatley stuck to true land rover engineering >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>fcuk'ed.

nope i googled it
it'll be in the air intake system somewhere usually in the filter box look for the wiring mate.;)
Cheers. Looked where the air filter was (took it out) nothing in there. Followed wiring but there was nothing obvious and to many small looms. didnt want to fcuk it up as i can do that easy. lol.

ere yar
