My Landy started a very difficult thing to diagnose and I was truly hoping someone on this forum has had a similar issue before. I am out of ideas and honestly don't know hat to do anymore.
A while ago I drove the Landy (Daily runner) and suddenly it just cut out. It did not die, the engine kept running but there is no throttle response and it just starts to idle with large amounts of black smoke.
Since that day I have done the following:
1. Serviced the injectors
2. Replaced the diesel pump and filter.
3. Cleaned the ECU to remove any oil.

The Landy starts perfectly.
It will probably idle all day long.
But when I take it for a test drive it goes perfectly for about 1km, then it cuts out, goes into a jerking idle with loads of black smoke.
Thereafter it starts first time but jerking with black smoke and no throttle response.
If I wait about 30 to 45 min it would start normally but as soon as I drive it 50m the problem starts again.
Tomorrow morning I can start it like normal and it drives perfectly, for that 1km.

If anyone has had a similar problem please give me some direction, hopefully the right direction.

I had exactly the same issue last year with my D2 TD5 Auto; it was the inside of the pipe collapsing as described above, from turbo to intercooler (the one with a metal joiner).
Could not see anything wrong from the exterior inspection, but take the pipe off & a big flap was intermittently blocking the turbo airflow.
Relatively easy fix/cheap to replace, once you identify which pipe is the culprit.

Thank you for the feedback. Will have a look at all pipes this morning and see if I can find anything.
There is a stretch of road that I test drive the Landy and it breaks down on the EXACT same place every time. Almost like it runs out of diesel.
But what does make it different is once that happens it won't have any throttle response for at least 30min to an hour.
Almost like it needs to cool down before I can drive it back home in 2nd gear, idle only.
Like I mentioned above, the next morning I can drive it at 60kmh perfectly.................. FOR 1KM.

But let me check the pipes and give feedback.

Grateful for the replies.

If it is the pipes you may be lucky and be able to see a flat bit, but it's equally likely that it's delamination internally. Sometimes you can feel that by squeezing all along the length, other times you need to take them off for a good looking at.

Removed the pipe, which from the outside seems 100%, and found that it looks like an extra lung growing in there.
Ordered the new pipe today and should receive it tomorrow.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
I would never have figured this out on my own.
Will give more feedback once the new pipes have been fitted.

That's one of the worst I've seen!

You can replace them with silicone hoses, which tend to be a bit better.

So I received the new pipe today. Could not wait to fit it and take the Landy for a test drive, down the same strip I usually take it for a test every time we tried something new. There is a specific spot on the road and an Estate Agent on the left hand side. That is the exact spot I make it to.
I PASSED THE ESTATE AGENT....... and even a few pensioners who were doing 60 and drove for miles and miles.
Thank you to everyone in this group that helped.
Thank you @boguing
