STANLOW OIL REFINERY DIRECT ACTION / GO SLOW
Location: THROUGH ELLESMERE PORT TOWN CENTRE /OIL SITES ROAD
Time: Friday, 11 March 2011 19:30

Not really... The government put up the price of vegy oil because it was under duress from the oil companies who worried that their product would not be thought competitive for very long and may end up being booted out of the market if the whole vegy oil thing took off. It is still much cheaper to use vegy oil than diesel.

Diesel is 1.41 a litre here in Dunstable. I got 25 litres of vegy oil from nettos at the weekend for 84p per litre - not free I 'll grant you but a bloody good saving nonetheless!

Needs wayyyyy more hype unless you just wanna be a lemon and waste 15 mins of your life. It would be much more effective for a group to organise a go-slow on the motorway. Only need 3 cars in 3 lanes to drive 40 mph. Everyone else behind will automatically become protesters, whether they signed up for it or not. Of course, there is a danger to doing this but AFAIK, 40mph is the minimum legal speed limit on motorways?

Am all for fuel protests but they need to well organised. A group doing 40 on motorway could cause a serious accident considering I'm sure some dickheads drive with their eye's closed and would not notice the slow moving traffic!! But with proper organisation it could work a treat ;-)

Thats whats needed its a joke the price of fuel and I'd noticed the veggie oil had went up as soon as they became aware people were using this in there cars and Bio isn't an option as its ruined two injector pumps not good.
I'm surprised the lorry company's haven't made a stand like the last time as that made a difference as the whole country comes to a standstill

We are not a disruptive and disorganized action minority.. we are a group whose numbers almost 600 on our on line group alone, and we have the support of the nations haulers, farmers and small businesses.
We do not threaten to implement action which will cause unnecessary disruption to the country and support if need be, to protest in a peaceful fashion in a way that will ensure that you the gov listen to the people of the country which you govern.

At risk of being the most hated person on the boards, I really couldn't give a toss.

The largest percentage of what you pay at the pumps is fuel duty tax.

It's high because we as a country have a big debt to settle. And if you, me, and others want to continue to live in a largely democratic and 'rich' community, we have to accept that we all have to pay for that.

Having all the amenities of a wealthy country doesn't come free, especially in one as small as ours.

I'm not saying I'm happy with the amount of money I earn, and then spend being swallowed up to pay that, I'm just saying I pay it gladly to live in this state, rather than a third world country.

Matt I agree of what your saying but the reason why I disagree.... We are paying for scroungers and low life's, smack heads and Muslims to do what they want and when! We have the nhs full of foreigners having ops then going home, we have schools full of non English students! The list continues.....

yeah right!

The nasty little darkies cost us so much more than tax evasion by the rich, bank bailouts, expenses scams! The list continues....

I dont think the fuel protest make any difference what so ever.what we need to do is boycott the pumps if everyone sticks to a certain brand eg asda, tesco then it will make the bigger brands such as shell, esso etc it would hit them in the pocket and make them lower prices in line with the supermarkets.it amazes me how the supermarket can be cheaper than the petrol stations with their own refineries.
