----------------------------------------------------------------

This is my 1982 series III which I’ve owned since October last year. I bought her as a project to spruce up and as always, ended up spending more than I intended! I’m looking to sell to fund a camper van for the family.

She has a 2.25 petrol engine and is a safari roof station wagon with 3 front seats. There is a role cage in the back but you could re-fit seats in the rear again easily by removing the cage. I can’t verify the mileage but it says 70k on the clock.
Everything works fine, drives well, all gears select well and no jumping out of gear. Lovely quiet fairey Overdrive fitted. Engine is a good runner and starts every time without exception.

She has Kingpin Mud Terrain tyres, loads of tread, on steel weller/style 8 spokes. Spare wheel and tyre on rear door, good Kumho tyre on that.
Parabolic Springs.
New hydraulic shocks and bushes on rear, July 2013.
New oils seal on front pinion and rear halfshaft, Nov 2012.
New brake shoes on every corner (8 in total) and new wheel cylinder at front. Pulls dead straight and very well (twin leading shoe, servo assist), done May 2013.
New UJ on rear prop. May 2013.
Brand new clutch kit (driven plate, bearing and pressure plate) May 2013.
Recon (by P/O) gearbox fitted (suffix B S3 synchro in all gears) and Fairey Overdrive May 2013.
New gearbox mount and all gear oil obviously renewed.
Free wheeling hubs
Electronic ignition, brand new distributor Nov 2012
Bosch HT leads and Lucas Gold coil Dec 2012
Champion plugs, engine oil, filter, valve clearance done, rocker gasket, fuel filter in 2013 all renewed.
Brand new Weber 34ich carb Nov 2012, runs really well and good with the fuel (for a series!), passed MOT emissions easily.
King One (Champion, Goldfish etc) TDS 12,000 lb winch with wireless remote, isolator and long battery leads. Works great, really powerful winch.
Winch tray and fairlead, recovery eyes and front/rear towbar plus electrics.
Painted in Jan 2013 in NATO green by me. Done with a roller, tidy job but obviously DIY close up.
Roof done in LR limestone and metal work + wheels done in black coach paint Jan 2013.

Wipac spots and wiring kit (not wired in yet)
New petrol cap
2 brand new drivers door hinges Feb 2013.
Radio and speakers.
Good heater.
New exhaust centre section May 2013.

Chassis is really solid and was why I bought her in the first place. Bulkhead good bar footwells, see below. Only chassis work I can see from the past is new dumbirons at some point, good job by the looks of it.

Tracking and wheel balance March 2013
New MOT July 2013

There are, as always, some points that I need to highlight. I’m not a mechanic but I am being 100% honest with what I know;

Bodywork is a bit bumpy, as in photos, just superficial. There is filler in there.

Drivers door closes ok but is a bit off. Door tops ok but rusty in places. Not an issue, just need to mention it.
Front bumper a bit dented in.
Winch cable a bit rusty, ideally needs renewing.
Engine leaks a bit of oil from sump gasket, not a hard fix at next oil change.
Dashboard is fitted a bit off flush to accommodate new heater pipes (which is very effective!) Purely a cosmetic thing, doesn’t bother me.
Seats aren’t in great condition but there are recent covers on all 3 seats (all have belts) and they are comfy.
Rear diff whines a bit at around 25 MPH.
Parabolics on rear do clunk a little bit. MOT tester said bushes were ok but would sort noise to change them in next year or two.
Footwells have some rust; again not an MOT fail but tester said they just need some patches. Drivers side has a hole but its not drastic, passenger been patched at some point.
Swivels leak a bit of oil but I have some one shot grease to go in to help that. One has some slight pitting but very small amount.
Tyres have some cracking, again MOT tester said not a fail so no worries.
Paint job isn’t great close up but is decent for a roller and brush. Have some paint left for touch ups. Photos are flattering!

Can’t think of anything else, and I am being as honest as I can. Don’t forget, many people will ‘forget’ to list these things as I have done. You know what you’ll be getting BUT viewing is highly recommended as I am no mechanic and can’t know everything. The above is just to the best of my knowledge and you should view before committing to buy.

I know I have written too much but there is still more to say! So please contact with any questions.

SOLD AS SEEN, please view before making any decisions as I can’t be responsible for anything after purchase, no overseas buyers, no timewasters please, serious interest you can ask for my phone number to call me. She’s old, she rattles and she drives like a truck so if you’ve not had a series before, don’t expect luxury and mod cons. They are wicked fun though. I would get in her tomorrow and drive to Scotland.

If you wanted to have it without the winch and fairlead, I can knock £100 off. I have a spare rear door to include too.
I’ve spent loads on her and have really enjoyed owning her, will be sad if she goes.

Thanks
Al

£1900

(spot the tw@t in the reflection)

Hi there, she is going on ebay tonight for £1600
if anyone on here is interested, its £1500 or less without the winch.
I put a replacement rear diff in last week, now nice and quiet. Have diagnosed clunk as rear spring bush and a new full set included. Easy job as the bush is not seized in hangar.
cheers
Al
