freelander snorkel

no idea never had either engines. I guess by the fact of fitting a snorkel its a sealed intake anyway so will need a hose routing to air filter box/intake into top of wheel arch ( bottom of snorkel)

Wow that is the coolest snorkel ever! Bit pricey though and a pain in the arse shipping all the way from Spain! The idea is genius though! Seems like once the elbow is in place plastic hosing could be run to the back of the wheel arch (same position as the product you sent me a link 2) and then run some piping up to the roof, wouldn't look anything special but would do the job.

V Nice but as it fits on our Drivers side window pillar won't it obcure Bikes,Cars Small Horses etc.
Its bad enough as it is
Is there enough room to run it across the top of the engine and exit on passenger side?
The 1.8 intake is on the passenger side so may be less intrusive just a thought

Having not sat in one with a snorkel fitted I wouldnt know on how it may affect visability, however just looking at the photos it looks like it just sits behind the A pillar anyway. dunno about fitting on nearside, only ever seen a freebie one on drivers side. Matbe someone could offer up a disco one to the freebie body and see if there are any major differences in angle between wing and A pillar. maybe a little fettling and customising could get a different one to fit.

How deep are you planning to travel through water with the snorkle? As said it will float first. Or even loose grip un not be able to shift the water infront of you.

Don't forget to raise the breathers on the rear diff, ird and gearbox too.

Realistically, if you're doing stuff that warrants having a snorkel, I think you will find that you're asking for trouble. I took my freelander through a moderately deep ford once (not deep enough to need a snorkel) and the resistance from the water ripped my entire plastic sump guard off. I didn't replace it and very shortly after that, I noticed that there was a oil leak from the sump...

Whats in the water should be a concern too. Mud un sand/clay took out me air con compressor clutch bearing, ird driveshaft seal and rear brake piston. :(

........... would think a Snorkel on a Freelander was as useful as an outside Temp Gauge for a Series 2 or an Altimeter for a lifted Disco!

each to their own I spose!!!

An outside temp gauge on a series would be very useful cos then you'd know if it's worth opening the window to let some heat in :D
