Freelander 2 or defender

Hi all. I’m considering returning to owning Landy but I’m in two minds either get freelander 2 auto or get defender 90. I’ve had disco 1 and defender 90 ex military. I’m now 50 and thinking of freelander 2 for comfort but are they easy to work on if breaks down ? In my head defender cos it is aluminium rust proof and body can be taken off to clean avd restore. Freelander 2 rust is big killer. Mm. Anyone have freelander 2 any tips to watch out for.

Strange comparison F2 or Defender.

The F2 is undoutedly much more comfortable than a Defender - there is no comparison. If you haven't driven one, you'll be surpised at how solid an F2 feels and how awesome they are to drive on road.

If the same bits break on a F2 as a Defender, they are likely just as easy to replace, some easier, some harder.

But there's a lot more to break on a F2 - how are you with electrics?

I’m not too bad with electrics. I hate the sensors . False alarms or limp mode. My current car is focus mk2 07 TCDI and starting to fall apart. Rust and injector seals leaking. Replaced that but time to think about return to Landrover

Literally no comparison between the two cars, apart from they are cars.
As for a defender being rust proof

99% of people that could own a defender
Would pick that over a Freelander ( including me )
But the hassle that is owning a defender would probably bit you on the arse
Pretty quickly

As others have said, they are not comperable vehicles. You need to decide what you want first.

I'd keep the FL1 and have a Defender if i could afford it.
