Freelander front hub removal HELP !

Hi all, first post and I have a problem,I have lurked for years and usually found the answer on here by searching but not this time!

anyway I have the wheel,hub nut,brake caliper on zip tie etc etc and the splines for the driveshaft are loose in the hub after using a hub puller but it won't come off,the reason for removing it is I over tightened a stud on the hub and snapped it:brick:
So is there anything holding it in?
If I carry on with the hub puller I'm not going to bork a driveshaft am I as it is moving on me winding the hub puller

All in situ BTW

If the puller is is moving it you should be ok to carry on I've just done both front driveshafts and they came off no problem

No the puller isnt moving its pushed the driveshaft out through the back so I am assuming its just the bearings that is holding the hub on now
After speaking to someone who knows a bit it may be a case of having to have the bearings extracted and then repressed into the new hub?
If This may be the case it will have to be a garage job
He also told me that I could have just replaced the stud :mad2:

have you taken the bolts out of the leg and undone the bottom ball joint ?

as teddywood 1 s comments , the hub must be free to move, or you will knacker the ird/gb bearing
if you are pressing the drive shaft out of the hub as i imagineand it is free to move , the fact that you snapped the shaft you may have a burr where it snapped off, might just need a little tapp

No April fool, it's going into the garage tomorrow to get fixed so I can then sell it after 8 trouble free (ish) years

Here's my baby

put it all back together and knock the broken stud out with a hammer and punch, pull the new one in using a wheel nut and washers.

Cant do that as the housing behind the hub obscures the nuts,usually there is one area where you can punch them out- not on this one!!

it will just push the shaft hrough if thats what your pressing against , normally id remove whole assembly and push hub through the wheel bearings
