Hi Dave

I have done both these mods to my 300tdi '98 and it walked its MOT. the Cat does not have a Lamda sensor and is more just a particle collector more than anything so waste of time fitting them really. With regards the wiring etc for the egr I just took mine off and binned it, jobs a gud un!

I've de-EGR'd my Tdi 300 auto and it didn't have any wiring, just a vacuum tube - but it does have EDC !!

Next step is to get a de-catted downpipe - a lot of people use a Defender one as it's £21 instead of about £60 for the Disco version.

Cheers for that as for decatting i was just going to cut the cat out and weld in some tube instead as thats all id be paying for isn't it

Yes Dave you're absolutely right - and when you've done yours, can you just pop round my place and do the same to mine?

Btw, where are you based - I'm in central France  :p ;)

hi dfdave

i've not long blanked my egr valve, i just taped the wire and pipe and tucked it by the air filter box. not de-catted yet but its on my list.

the difference in blanking the egr valve was noticable, especially being an auto.

as for the mot, i will let you know.

replacing the boot floor at the minute and few other jobs ready for mot in
few weeks time.

i'm like your self a newbey to discoverys, but there are loads of guys on here with lots of knowledge and tips to help you do almost every thing.

all you need to do is ask

cheers mark

Hi Mark it's Dave here, just noticed your post. Did you ensure that the vacuum pipe is securely blocked because if it isn't I'm lead to believe it can affect other systems on the car? I was advised to put a self-tapper in the end and it's seems to have worked for me.

hi dave,

yes i put a 2"long bolt in the pipe, put a few cable ties around then taped it as per the advise at the time.

if i remember i did ask about that at the time, but not too sure.

cheers mark

I didn't mean to pry mate, I just always prefer to avoid troubles, with cars, if I can help it.
